About the site
What this is, and what it is not
Top of The Cue is an independent site about professional snooker: the object the game is played on, the people who play it for a living, the theatre it is decided in, and the money that moves through all three.
The sport is well served by results coverage and badly served by everything else. Frame scores are published within minutes; the supply contract that decides which table a ranking event is played on, the structure that leaves a player ranked eightieth out of pocket for entering, and the tribunal findings that removed ten professionals from the tour in one round of hearings are all documented somewhere and almost never set beside each other. That is the gap this site works in.
The site is organised into six sections, and the point values of the frame supply their numbers: The Table, Players, The Crucible, The Tour, Records and Archive. The Archive lists every piece on the site in one place.
Top of The Cue is not affiliated with the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, the World Snooker Tour, Matchroom, or any venue, manufacturer or player named on it. Where a supporter appears in the colophon at the foot of the front page, they have no involvement in what is written.
